Abstract

The evaluation made within the teacher professional development (TPD) process is one of the main challenges for the education system. Through a systematic review, we intend to analyse and identify crucial factors in teachers' evaluation process that influence their professional development (PD), as well as analyse the potentialities of evaluation in PD. From these objectives, the defined keywords directed the search made in different selected electronic databases (between 2009 and 2019). Ten studies were selected according to the inclusion / exclusion criteria defined for this research.

The results of this systematic review show that the evaluation enhances PD. It is the evaluation that guides the process of PD, not only through the teacher's own self-formation, but also by a close look at the teacher's scientific-pedagogical components, relating these aspects with factors such as motivation, leadership and professional relationships.
